New at Nyambe.com

New at the Nyambe.com fan site is the Nyambe Glossary -- nearly 300 terms, their definitions, and pronunciations from all Nyambe sources in PDF format. Find it on the Goodies Page.

Firefox and PDFs

If you are one of the gazillion people (including me) who has moved to the Firefox web browser, you may have encountered a peculiar problem on our web pages. If you have the very handy "PDF Download" extension installed, you may get "file not found" messages when you click on the PDFs on our website, whether you choose the save or view in browser options that the extension gives you. This is a bug in the extension; the creator is aware of it, and it's on his to-do list for future updates. In the meantime, if you don't want to uninstall the extension, the workaround is to right-button mouseclick the PDF links and choose "Save Link As..." to save the PDF to your hard drive and then open it.

(Thanks to Peter Karpas for his sleuthing in tracking down this issue!)

Northern Crown Has Arrived!

Northern Crown: New World Adventures and Northern Crown: Gazetteer have just arrived at our warehouse. We'll be shipping them out to our distributors today, so you should see it in stores in another week or so, or you can order it through Warehouse 23.

New on RPGNow: Touched by the Gods

Start your weekend off right, by downloading a copy of Touched by the Gods, available now from RPGNow for the modest sum of $8.96. If you prefer your words printed, be aware that the book is still widely available in print, including from our friends at Warehouse 23.

Gloom Review

Special Ops demo team member Paul Tevis has started doing a weekly podcast about gaming, and this week he reviewed Gloom (as well as mentioning Northern Crown in his "upcoming things I'm excited about" blurb). It's called "Have Games, Will Travel" and can be found at havegameswilltravel.libsyn.com. It's also available through iTunes.

Seven Civilizations Review

Pookie just put up a new review of Seven Civilizations at Pyramid magazine. He says: "Seven Civilizations is everything you would expect of a Penumbra title. It is solidly written, with contents that are both interesting to read and easy to slip into almost any campaign ... for the fantasy gamer looking for more than the slash, bang, wallop, grab the loot nonsense, Seven Civilizations is another good book from Atlas Games."

To read the entire review, visit www.sjgames.com/pyramid.

New on RPGNow: the Bestiary

At $19.96, it's a little steep for a PDF download. But consider: This PDF is 368 pages, and it's full of more than 200 new monsters for your d20 System game. Yes, the weighty Penumbra Fantasy Bestiary is now available as a digital download. Mind you, if you'd rather not burn several ink cartridges printing it, or if you just want something that doubles as a good doorstop, you can still get the printed version from Warehouse 23 or your favorite game store.

New on RPGNow: In the Belly of the Beast

Today we have another offering for sale on RPGNow: In the Belly of the Beast, an early d20 System adventure by Mike Mearls for low-level characters. You can have it instantly as a download for just $5 -- or you can still find it in print, from Warehouse 23 or your favorite game retailer!

Let's Kill Cover and Dungeoneer Translations

I've just put up the mockup cover for Let's Kill 2nd Edition. We tried to evoke the feeling of the 1st Edition, while updating it to suit today's audience.

Also, links are now up on the Dungeoneer page for our translators: Edge Entertainment (Spanish) and Ubik (French). They both feature versions of the same incredibly spiffy trailer. Even if you don't speak Spanish or French, it's worth checking out just for the eye candy!

Northern Crown Promos, Reviews, and Preorders!

We're expecting Northern Crown back from the printer next week, which means it should easily be available at your friendly local game store by the beginning of August! To celebrate, designer and illustrator Doug Anderson has put down his thoughts about the process of creating Northern Crown in a special Designer's Notes PDF download. We've also given ENWorld's Joe Kushner a sneak peak at the two books before release, and his reviews of both Northern Crown and The Gazetteer are now up, so be sure to take a look! He gives them both 4 stars, and writes, "Not quite a book of American tall tales nor one of Native American lore, Northern Crown has it’s own twist on these elements." And, finally, if you're not able to find Northern Crown locally, Warehouse23 now has Northern Crown and The Gazetteer available for preorder.

Order the Divine Now!

Ars Magica 5th Edition's newest release is now available for pre-order at Warehouse23! The Realms of Power: The Divine sourcebook explains the power of God in Mythic Europe. From descriptions of each of the three great Divine religions -- Judaism, Christianity, and Islam -- to rules for Divinely-empowered wonder workers and angels, this book contains everything needed to include the Divine in your Ars Magica saga.

GamerDad Reviews Atlas

Dr. Matt Carlson of the GamerDad Unplugged e-zine recently pointed out reviews of Dungeoneer & Once Upon a Time in issue #17, and a brief mention of Ars Magica in his issue #24 "Parental Guide to Role Playing" -- a rundown of RPG titles as part of an overview of the genre for parents who are interested in RPGs or who have kids who are getting interested in them. If you're looking for games for the rugrats in your life, check out these reviews now!

New on RPGNow: Maiden Voyage

Horror from the high seas has pulled into the port of RPGNow -- allowing you the opportunity to download Maiden Voyage, a low-level d20 System adventure, for just $5. As it happens the print edition is still afloat as well, if you'd like to go fishing for a copy at your local shop or net one from Warehouse 23.

Seven Strongholds on RPGNow

Over the weekend I also prepared another PDF, which is now available on RPGNow: Seven Strongholds. This was the first of the "Campaign Sites" sourcebooks in our Penumbra line; the others are Seven Cities, Sacred Ground, Sacred Ground II, Seven Serpents and Seven Civilizations. All are now available in your choice of print or PDF!

Seven Cities on RPGNow

New this weekend, we now have Matt Forbeck's perennially useful campaign sites sourcebook, Seven Cities, available for download from RPGNow at a price of just $9.96. This book is also still available in print, so be sure to ask for it at your local game store if you would like it in hard copy!

Spanish Dungeoneer trailer

Our friends at Edge Entertainment, who are publishing Dungeoneer in Spanish, have put up a really cool ad page/trailer for their edition of the game at http://www.dungeoneer.edgeent.com/ -- even if you don't understand Spanish, it's very cool to watch.

Nyambe Special on Warehouse 23

During the month of July, we are running a special in collaboration with Warehouse 23: you can buy your own hardcover copy of Nyambe: African Adventures for a paltry $10!

Meet the Family

In preparation for the release of the Unhappy Homes expansion for Gloom, we've prepared a "tour" of Le Canard Noir ... the new family that adds one player to your game. This dingy cafe is home to a motley assortment of washed-up bohemians, whose creative endeavors always end in disaster!

Off to Press: The Divine

Friday evening I finished all the work preparing Realms of Power: The Divine to go the printer, and I handed it off to the mailman on Saturday morning. I'm a little behind schedule; assuming the normal turnaround on the presses, we should have the finished goods back in our warehouse by mid-August (missing the original July release we'd projected).

Northern Crown Banner Ad

I just finished up this nifty Northern Crown banner ad last week, and thought all you budding Northern Crown fans out there might like a look at it. You'll see more of it on ENWorld in the next month. :)

New This Weekend: Seven Civs on RPGNow

Our latest addition to the digital catalog of RPGNow is Seven Civilizations, the final installment in the "Campaign Sites" series within Penumbra. This book is still in print, too, so don't hesitate to pick up a copy from Warehouse 23 if you prefer a print edition!

Still Yet Even More Good News from Origins

Atlas Games is pleased to announce that not only did Cthulhu 500 win the 2004 Origins Award for Best Traditional Card Game ... it also won the Origins Award for People's Choice! Thanks to everyone who voted, and to Jeff Tidball and J. Scott Reeves for all their work on Cthulhu 500! John's partner, Jerry Corrick, is bringing home a total of 10 trophies this year, he says!!!

Northern Crown: Villains of Vandalia

As I mentioned before, Game Trade Magazine is featuring an article on Northern Crown this month, with original material by Doug Anderson not found in the soon-to-be-released books. Villains of Vandalia, as it's called, gives information on the rogue state of Vandalia, which aims to overthrow Philathelias Jeferson's nation of enlightened inventors, the Republic of Sophia. Included are stats for three NPC agents -- the Saboteur, Interrogator, and Master Spy -- and five new inventions, including the Automaton Immolator, Hades Powder, Mnemosynetic Shadow Box, Morphitic Bullet, and Quiet Powder. GTM has put the article up on its web site, so don't miss it!
