Gloom: Unwelcome Guests to Press!
You can always tell when I've been working hard, because suddenly it looks like nothing is going on in the blog. Au contraire ... no blog entries means I'm extra super busy!
In this case, I've been working on getting the new
Gloom expansion to press. Unwelcome Guests is now safely in our new printer's hands, along with the reprint materials for Gloom and Unhappy Homes. We have high hopes that they'll return a first-rate product to us, probably in January it looks like.
To celebrate, we've put together a new promo for Unwelcome Guests ...
Meet your horrible housemates, the new characters for Gloom included in Unwelcome Guests!
And look for a full-page Unwelcome Guests ad in December's Game Trade Magazine.
Let's Kill Santa Claus
Designer Aaron Pavao just came up with this nifty little "house rule" for
Let's Kill:
Between Thanksgiving and Christmas in the United States, replace the rules text on the Santa Claus Surprise to "This Victim is dressed up as Santa Claus. Whacking this right jolly old elf is quite satisfying, and while it garners no extra points, you may put this card face-down under another Victim, so you can spread the holiday cheer!"
Have fun!
Gloomy Update
Gloom has been a source of much unhappiness in the Atlas offices this fall. We were excited to have a new printer lined up to do the reprints and new expansion deck, and we expected to have it in our warehouse in December. Then, when we submitted the final specs and quantities, that printer came back to us with a 50% price increase over their original quote (which itself was a good 50% higher than what we had been paying overseas on the first two printings). This sent us back to square one in trying to find a supplier.
Well, that search has ended in success at last. We have found a new printing arrangement for the game, here in the USA. I don't believe we can get the games into our warehouse before the end of the year, but January seems very likely -- much better than the 4-6 months later that I thought we might face if we had to go back overseas again (depending on monsoons, labor unrest in foreign ports, homeland security delays, and everything else that has afflicted the game in the past).
We'll keep you posted when we have more news and a more definitive date, but in the meantime here's a little more bad news.
Price Increase: Gloom ExpansionsWe need to hike the price a little bit on the expansions to keep my budgetary spreadsheets in line. The old price was $12.95 (just like the original printing of
Unhappy Homes);
the new price will be $13.95 for both
Unhappy Homes and the new
Unwelcome Guests. We are still going with $24.95 for the core Gloom game, as announced previously.
Arima: Atlas PDFs in Italy
We're pleased to announce another choice for PDF buyers: Atlas Games digital RPG books are now available through the Italian website

Atlas at GenCon SoCal
If you're going to be at GenCon SoCal this weekend, make sure you stop by the Atlas Games booth. If you haven't tried

Seismic yet?), drop by and see about a demo of that!
Knucklebones Recommends Pieces of Eight!
We were happy to note that the new January issue of Knucklebones magazine recommends
Pieces of Eight in its New Releases section. Yay!

I'm pleased to share the news that we've signed a new, non-exclusive deal for Paizo Publishing's online game store to offer Atlas Games PDFs. The files aren't online there yet, but they should start appearing soon.
