City and Guild: Sold Out

The latest Ars Magica sourcebook to sell out is City and Guild. The last half dozen copies I had in the warehouse were shipped to a distributor earlier this week. As usual, it should be available from various wholesalers and stores for a while yet as they sell down their stock.

Deep Ones Review

Allan Sugarbaker over at OgreCave.com just posted an excellent review of Where the Deep Ones Are. Allan says, "Andy Hopp's illustrations are slime-glistening perfection, capturing the essence of the town of Innsmouth and strange creatures from the sea in authentic children's book form. Cthulhu specialist Ken Hite's version of the story maintains a creepy vibe". Read the whole review now!

Interview with Michelle

Hamis-hakia, the Hebrew gaming podcast, did an interview with me at Gen Con, covering everything from Lunch Money and Once Upon a Time all the way through Ars Magica and Where the Deep Ones Are, with some Dungeoneer in between. That segment is now available on their website for download. Enjoy!

Deep Ones Banner Ad

In the next month you'll see this nifty new banner ad for Where the Deep Ones Are on BoardGameGeek.com. Download one for your own web site!

Reprints Coming: Ancient Magic, ROP: Infernal

This afternoon I placed an order for reprints of two out-of-stock Ars Magica 5th Edition sourcebooks: Realms of Power: Infernal and Ancient Magic. We haven't gotten an estimated delivery date from the printer yet, but I would guess that we'll have them in our warehouse by early December.

More Books Sold Out

Despite the distress of the global economy, game sales still seem to be doing pretty well. Thus I find myself writing today to let folks know that we've sold out of yet more titles.

Our d20 fire sale is going strong, and has cleared another title out of our warehouse: Backdrops in the Penumbra line is now out of print. Note that while we don't have it in the warehouse any more, that's because we just recently shipped our remaining copies to retailers such as Warehouse 23, who have been passing the fire sale savings along to consumers -- so you may yet have a chance to pick up a copy for yourself. If we sell out of all of our d20 titles by year-end, and thus don't have to send any to the recycling center, I'll be very pleased indeed.

The Ars Magica 5th Edition roleplaying game line has also been a steady performer, and two more of its sourcebooks have sold out from our warehouse: Realms of Power: Divine and Houses of Hermes: Societates. I should probably mention too that we're down to about half a dozen copies of City and Guild right now.

Battle of the Geeks: Installment Two

Hello again, gentle readers. And welcome to another installment of Battle of the Geeks, the ongoing series in which I prove once and for all that I am, indeed, a much bigger gamer geek than my husband, Atlas Games' president John Nephew.

INSTALLMENT TWO: MY FIRST 4E GAME

Gaming is at the heart of being a gamer geek, of course. So, the question becomes, when was the last time each of us actually sat down and gamed? My answer is, of course, last Tuesday ... the same answer that I've had for the last three years that my gaming group has been in existence. John's answer? ... (wait for it) ... Is that SILENCE that I hear?

And here's where I up the ante. I present to you, dear readers, PHOTOGRAPHIC EVIDENCE not just of my gaming group (and guests), but of our first ever 4E game:

Yes, that's right, we hold our weekly game at the Atlas Games offices, and so that bookshelf behind us is full to overflowing with D&D sourcebooks. And yes, that's Bobbi Olson again on the laptop at right, being Skyped in for the event since she had business out of town that day. The laptop actually does double duty, since of course we have a custom soundtrack for our game playing. And YES, that is indeed a GM screen in the shape of a GINORMOUS CASTLE. And you know what's even better? The turrets are actually DICE ROLLERS, one pointing in toward the GM and the other out toward the players.

I ask you, is this NOT the geekiest roleplaying game session you've EVER SEEN!?!

GEEK SCORE:

Michelle = 2
John = 0

(My thanks to Mike Webb at Alliance Distribution for helping make this installment of Battle of the Geeks possible, by his kind contribution of the 4E GM screen.)

Hedge Magic to Press

Today is "To Press" day for Hedge Magic! It's still on track for November release.

UA2 Character Sheet

Strangely enough, we've gone all this time without a 2nd Edition Unknown Armies character sheet on the site! I've just put it up, and you can find it on the UA page in the right column. Our thanks to KBKarma for pointing out the omission!

Sold Out: Unwelcome Guests

Our warehouse is now free of the Unwelcome Guests. No, I'm not talking about Michelle's weekly game group (just teasing), but the second Gloom expansion deck, which has now sold out. Copies are still out there on store shelves around the world, but when they're sold, it may be a while before your favorite retailer can restock.
