--------------------------- ATL@S UPDATE -- 8 July 1999 www.atlas-games.com --------------------------- YEAH, SO IT'S BEEN A WHILE... Checking back, it looks to me like we sent out the last ATL@S UPDATE at the beginning of April. Sue us. We've been doing work. Seriously, there's some entirely exciting stuff coming up from Atlas, and we've been so busy working on it that we've been neglecting ATL@S UPDATE, the web site, and stuff like that. As a result, this issue is chock full of exciting announcements about Lunch Money Button Men, Feng Shui, Unknown Armies, and all kinds of other stuff. Read on... ========== FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE June 17, 1999 LUNCH MONEY BUTTON MEN They're six cute little girls. And they like to beat people up. Lunch Money is the hit Atlas Games card game of playground combat (and winner of an Origins Award). Button Men is the hit Cheapass Games combat game of buttons and dice (created by James Ernest, himself an Origins Award winner). Put them together and you have a new series of Button Men, produced and sold under license by Atlas Games, using the distinctive graphics of Lunch Money! Button Men is a quick-playing dice game in which players take turns capturing each others' dice. But it's not as easy as you might think. In this elegant fight system, small dice mean speed, and large dice mean strength. The strategies revolve around how you play your numbers, which risks you take, and which dice you choose to round out your character. The six new Lunch Money Button Men characters introduce two new features: the "Y" wild die (which allows a player to choose any die type from 1 to 20), and the unique "trip die," which enables a player to re-roll an opponent's die. The Lunch Money buttons, designed by James Ernest, are fully compatible with the original Button Men set, as well as with other sets published by Cheapass Games and future licensees. Each package comes with one rulebook and two pin-back buttons. Players need to supply their own dice (which their friendly neighborhood game retailers will be delighted to sell them!). Stock No. Description SRP (US) AG3331 Prudence & Charity $4.50 AG3332 Faith & Temperance $4.50 AG3333 Hope & Chastity $4.50 Game Design by James Ernest. Lunch Money was designed by Charlie Wiedman, with photography by Andrew Yates. Published by Atlas Games under license from Cheapass Games. Bad guys are coming out of the woodwork to wage the secret war. Powerful eunuch sorcerers from ancient China. Modern-day conspiracy masterminds. Cyber-demonic scientists from the future. They've almost won: Portals through time lay bare a secret history of our world, a history that changes like the breeze and can erase you without you even knowing it. There's only one things standing between these monstrous powers and complete control of all of human history: you and your buddies. But you aren't just anyone. You're secret warriors -- a group of butt-kicking, kung-fu fighting, spell-chucking, pistol-packing badasses. It's up to you to save the world, or die trying. Feng Shui is the Hong Kong martial arts action-movie roleplaying game. It contains all of the rules necessary for play. Feng Shui was originally published by Daedalus Entertainment in 1996, and Atlas Games is pleased to bring this best-selling game back into print. The Atlas Games edition features the same text as the original in a new format including new artwork, layout, and a hardcover binding. What, you thought the future was going to be jet packs, world peace, and the cure for cancer? Guess again, pal. When the Architects of the New Flesh took over, they had different ideas -- ideas like conformity, stability, and equality at any price. Sure, there are cool personal fliers: The cops use 'em to keep the public in line. Curing cancer got put on the back burner, 'cause the Buro was more interested in mind control technology. As for world peace, sure, they've got that. Maybe Acapulco had to be burned to the ground, maybe Sri Lanka will never recover from its "pacification," and maybe there's still martial law in the Texas Demilitarized Zone -- but the rest of the world is peaceful as the grave. In the future there's no inequality -- because no one's permitted to excel. There's no unemployement -- because everyone has a mandatory job. There's no freedom -- except the freedom to choose between brands. Seed of the New Flesh gives you everything you need to fight the good fight in 2056. Want to know about Buro resistance movements? Want to know what new Arcanowave awfulness the CDCA is cooking up? Want to know if "Cats" is still playing on Broadway? From the heights of Buro high tech to the depths of its standard of living -- it's all here, waiting for for you, your players, and their duffel bags full of guns. Product Number: AG4001 ISBN: 1-887801-77-4 Length: 96 pages Binding: Perfect Bound Softcover Suggested Retail Price: $16.95 (US) Author: Greg Stolze Artists: TBA Available October 1999 Feng Shui is a (c) 1996, 1999 Robin D. Both Stolze and Tynes will telecommute from their current locations, Greg in Chicago and John in Seattle, and will continue on with their other committments both in the industry and outside of it. Atlas Games is headquartered in Roseville, Minnesota, a suburb of Minneapolis. "Feng Shui's a great game, and I'm looking forward to bringing it back stronger than ever," said Stolze. "All the people who've been wishing they had new stuff for Feng Shui aren't going to have to wait much longer." "Unknown Armies deserves a freak factor of eleven, and I'm pleased as porn to be at the rudder of this groaning post-modern galleon of grue," Tynes augured. "Fear death by water. Those were pearls that were his eyes." Both Greg and John will work closely with the home office staff. Each will be responsible for most aspects of their respectives lines' development, including sub-contracting freelance authors, answering fan queries, and establishing concrete visions for their lines' growth. Greg Stolze is a highly respected roleplaying author whose credits include the Spherewalker Sourcebook for Everway, the Origins Award nominated Usagi Yojimbo roleplaying game, the City of Lies campgian setting for the Legend of the Five Rings roleplaying game, and co-creation of Unknown Armies. John Tynes was Greg's partner in crime in the creation of Unknown Armies, but he's also quite well known for his work with Pagan Publshing. He's a co-author of the enormously popular Delta Green Call of Cthulhu campaign setting, and has written and contributed to numerous fine Call of Cthulhu works. His experimental roleplaying game Puppetland will be published this summer by Hogshead Ltd. *** For more information, contact Atlas Games Creative Director Jeff Tidball at 651-638-0077 or jtidball@atlas-games.com. ========== LAWYERS, GUNS & MONEY Secrets of the New Inquisition What do you get for the man who has everything?
